Well, it’s certainly taken longer to get around to posting than even I anticipated… lack of internet access makes everything more of a chore these days. Back in 2004, I went without in my apartment for several months, and don’t remember it being much of an actual inconvenience. This time around we’ve had to endure six weeks of no connection at our house, and it’s been a real problem – turns out a large part of my life is online these days, and not just the ‘fun’ part. Banking, bill-paying, communication via Skype (the only way I can talk to anyone overseas), not to mention the fact that so many of my friends rely more and more on Facebook to keep in touch… I’m starting to see the appeal of a smartphone at long last! Staying late at work in order to take care of personal business online is not only annoying, it makes me feel unprofessional. But I’m certainly not going to do my banking via public wi-fi in a cafe.

I’m being incredibly lazy today, not attending a church service. However, I will walk past a few churches on my way to a friend’s flat for Easter lunch this afternoon; perhaps some of that Eucharistic goodness will rub off? I was just too tired to face the prospect of getting up before 10 AM this morning, having worked nine days out of the last ten. Right now my window is propped open and it is blessedly quiet outside; no sign of the rambunctious children that filled backyards and sidewalks on Friday. I’m looking forward to walking through Gateshead, because there should be a lot of plants blooming in all of those pretty gardens – and a clear sky today means we might go for a walk in Saltwell Park! Hopefully there will be photos to post later.
